EIZO Announces Nine of Its Monitors are Among the First in the World to Achieve TCO Certified, Generation 10 for Sustainability
Hakusan, Japan, December 5, 2024 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) announced today that nine of its FlexScan series monitors are among the first in the world to achieve TCO Certified, generation 10 for sustainability, which released on December 4, 2024.
Established by Swedish organization TCO Development, TCO Certified is a global sustainability certification for IT products with a comprehensive system of up-to-date criteria, independent verification, and a structured system for continuous improvement to drive real and lasting change. Criteria areas include hazardous substances, circularity, socially responsible manufacturing, environmentally responsible manufacturing, and much more. Since TCO Certified was established in 1992, EIZO has offered a number of certified products that have consistently met the evolving and increasingly rigorous criteria. To date, EIZO’s core FlexScan series has been certified in accordance with the concurrent release of each new generation of TCO Certified. EIZO intends to further achieve the TCO Certified designation for future new products.
The latest TCO Certified, generation 10 includes comprehensive criteria that cover both environmental and social responsibility in the supply chain and throughout the product life cycle. Enhancing Supply Chain Engagement
- Mandatory implementation of ISO 50001 energy management systems in display panel factories to ensure reduced environmental risks
- Mandatory RBA-accredited initial audit reports and corrective action plans as well as implementation of ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management systems in display panel factories to enhance employee safety and mitigate workplace risks
- Updated requirements for display panel factories to use only TCO Certified-approved cleaning solvents
- Mandatory annual demonstration proving that at least 70% of the total number of smelters or refiners for 3TG (tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold) and cobalt in the supply chain are in compliance with relevant standards
Contributing to a Circular Economy
- Improved criteria to reduce product climate impact through further promotion of the use of environmentally conscious packaging materials
Prioritizing Environmental and Human Safety
- Expanded criteria to further ensure harmful substances, such as flame retardants, plasticizers, and stabilizers, are either reduced or replaced with safer alternatives as listed on TCO Certified Accepted Substance List
