Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava | EIZO
The Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava is a college in Slovakia, that educates at its faculties experts in, puppet theater, music, dance, photography, film and television production. The school equipped three selected studios with EIZO ColorEdge monitors for its students.
1. Visual Effects Studio at the Faculty of Film and Television at the Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava
The visual effects studio was established with the accreditation committee of the Ministry of Education's approval in June 2011. It is the newest studio within the FFT at APA Bratislava structure. The accreditation of visual effects at the masters level of studies was then approved by the Ministry of Education on 30 June 2014.
Visual effects (often abbreviated as Visual F/X or VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot. Visual effects involve the integration of live-action footage and generated imagery to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, very expensive or impossible to capture via standard processes. Visual effects using CGI has recently become accessible to the independent film-maker with the introduction of affordable and easy-to-use animation and compositing software.
Academic year 2011/2012 was the first accredited year of the visual effects program at FFT APA. The first year of the accredited AVFX study program registered 4 students, the second year had 6 and the third had 8 students. A total of 22 students currently visit the Visual Effects Studio.
Since the beginning of 2015, all of these students have had the opportunity to create visual effects on professional EIZO ColorEdge CX LCD monitors. The AVFX-visual effects studio is equipped with eight CX240 24" monitors and three CX270 27" monitors.
2. Animation Studio at the Faculty of Film and Television (FFT) at the Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava
The animation studio was established in 1993 as an education institute for future film animators. In the very beginning, student works were recorded on 35mm and 16mm film. The transition from film to digital processing made updating the studio equipment with adequate technology for processing assignments and works inevitable. |

In 2011, teachers and students of the animation studio at FFT received the first EIZO monitors at their own expense (entrepreneurial activity) after creating four short animated AVD for the National Museum of Slovakia for the Bratislava Castle expo. This was the animation studio's first school experience with EIZO monitors.
By the end of 2014, the animation studio significantly increased their equipment inventory with the purchase of eight computers and 9 EIZO CX240 LCD monitors. This significantly supported and facilitated the finalization of work, for example, with the support of the new technology, image outputs now have the desired colours and quality.
A total of 24 students currently study within all three levels of the animation studio.
3. Camera and Photography studio at the Faculty of Film and Television (FFT) at the Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava

The studio selected the EIZO ColorEdge CG276 monitor and equipped the classroom with this monitor at the end of 2013. It is the first top of the class monitor at the camera and photography studio. The monitor is fully utilized and occupied by students during class and for assignments year-round. In cooperation with the Czech representation of EIZO, the monitors for all three studios were calibrated for coping with several diverse tasks (=various video standards) and thus optimized for the purpose of displaying video-data specified for TV-broadcasting, recording to BD or preparing for the internet or also for creating data specified for digital cinemas.

Studio representatives claim there were two key reasons for selecting EIZO monitors for their work. Because they are easy to calibrate per the required video standard for processing video-data and also for their exceptional background and EIZO monitor supports in Slovakia. This means not only support in the form of monitor calibration by EIZO employees directly at faculty workstations, but also in the form of lectures for students and teachers.
